Kristian is a graduate of the prestigious film program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts .   His senior thesis film, The Mind's Eye , (distributed by Atomfilms) was the first digitally shot student film at NYU and paved the way for future digital filmmakers.  

Kristian and his producing partner Marc Perez founded Sirk Productions, LLC, in 1997. He has recently directed and produced the feature length documentary Anytown, USA for Sirk Productions. As director of Anytown, USA Kristian won the Emerging Filmmaker Award for Best Documentary at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Film Festival, Best Director at the Trenton Film Festival and Best Documentary at the Long Island Film Festival and Staten Island Film Festival.   The film was also an official selection several other festivals including The Atlanta Film Festival, Woodstock Film Festival and Newport Beach Film Festival.   The film was picked up for distribution by Film Movement and played theatrically in 12 cities nationwide. The film has also played on television on the Documentary Channel in Canada and on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom.   Currently the film is available on DVD, in stores and online, at major retailers like Amazon, Netflix , Borders and Danny Devito's Jersey Docs .

Kristian recently directed the feature documentary Severe Clear. The film is based on the memoir by First Lieutenant Mike Scotti as well as video footage shot by him and other members of 1st Battalion, 4th Marines on the outset of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Featuring a original score by Cliff Martinez (“Traffic”, “Narc”, “Solaris”) the film offers an unflinching look at the uncertainty, disorder and chaos of war from the remarkable perspective of one Marine. Severe Clear was awarded Special Mention for Cinematic Excellence at the 2009 International Rome Film Festival, the Jury Prize at the Salem Film Fest and the 2009 Barrymore Award. Severe Clear was also featured as part of the 2009 International Documentary Association’s DocuWeeks Showcase and was an official selection at the SXSW, Big Sky, Lone Star, Palm Beach, San Diego and St. Louis Film Festivals. The film has also been recently featured and reviewed in The New York Times, CNN, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Newsweek, Men’s Journal, Interview Magazine, Filmmaker Magazine, indieWIRE and more. Kristian currently serves as producer on the popular television series, The Inside Reel , now in its 9th season.   In 2001 he wrote, produced, and directed the award winning PBS documentary, The Inside Reel: Digital Filmmaking.    Marilyn Moss of The Hollywood Reporter called it "a must see for anyone who loves movies."  

Kristian produced the restoration of the first Robin Hood film shot in 1912 on behalf of The Fort Lee Film Commission.   The film was recently featured at New York City's prestigious Museum of Modern Art.   His first book, Tim Burton: Interviews , published by the University of Mississippi Press, was released in June 2005 and is currently in its third printing.
