Ted Bourne developed a passion for filmmaking while studying experimental cinema at the University of Chicago and went on to get his MFA from Temple University in 2000. He has written and directed several shorts, including the darkly comic films Plant Life and Beyond the Ruins, which both played the festival circuit. His most recent film Pinky, has won awards and played at film festivals including Seattle International and New York Expo.
He began his professional career working in commercial post as an assistant editor and has since moved on to edit TV shows for The Discovery Channel, National Geographic and A&E, establishing himself as a decisive and inventive collaborator in the Avid Room. His first foray into commercial directing, a stylized comedy spot for Heinz Ketchup, was short-listed for the 2003 Young Director Award at Cannes, featured on the boards Magazine website and screened at film festivals in the US and Canada. In 2004, with spots for Fuse TV and Starbust Fruit Chews added to his reel, Bourne was selected for SHOOT Magazine's New Directors Showcase at the Clio Awards in Miami.
Bourne plans to expand his directing work in commercials, film and music videos while continuing to produce and edit TV shows. He is currently writing, editing and producing an episode of the A&E documentary series The First 48, which follows homicide detectives during the most critical hours of their investigations.
